Push Notifications WordPress : How to Setup for Website & Blogs

If you are running any website or a blog, then you need the audience to achieve success, Right!. So what setting you have done for your returning users to send notifications of latest articles, no idea right?. if you keen to engage your readers or share an update of latest post with users then you should enable push notifications WordPress on your website or blog.

Have you seen below notification dialog box or Subscription icon?

Don’t know how to enable above functionality in your website or blog? so read this article completely to understand all the steps.

So let’s begin.

Firstly Login into your WordPress dashboard and go to the plugin section, then now click on Add New.

Now you will see the search box, just type ‘Push Notification’ & search result shows several plugins but you have to install and activate very first  ‘OneSignal -Free Web Push Notifications’ Plugin.

The left side of your WordPress dashboard you will see OneSignal Push setting, just click on that, now you are on OneSignal setting page.

But wait, before setup or start configuration you have to create your account in OneSignal.com, you may signup with your existing Google or Facebook account or you can use your any other email id for signup.

Once this process completed you will get an email from OneSignal.com, just click on the verification link and verify your account.

login into your account and you will see ‘ADD APP’ just click on that, now one pop-up has been appeared, where you have to fill your app name ( choose any name as per your choice ) and click ADD APP.

Now select Web Push and click on ‘Next’ and choose WordPress, now just dropdown below, fill your site name, site URL and Icon URL and click on Save.

For Icon URL just go to the media section of WordPress dashboard, now click on Add new, once icon added click on edit and copy Icon URL.



Now you will get APP ID and API Key, copy it some where.

Go back to WordPress dashboard and click on OneSignal Push setting, now you have to start configuration. update App ID and API Key, after that just dropdown below and set your preference or you can set up as per below snaps.


All Set now your website is ready to send push notifications to readers.
